Nylabone Dental Chews are
designed to reduce the incidence of periodontal disease in dogs by
massaging gums and scraping and cleaning teeth of food particles and
tartar. The result is a healthier mouth and fresher breath.
The Dental Chew bone has round
and pliable dental nubs on all sides. These chews massage the gums
and stimulate an increase of healthy fluids and saliva flow in the
mouth. Friction against the teeth helps remove food debris and
bacteria that leads to calculus formation.
Dental Chew bones are designed
only for soft and average chewing dogs. Soft chewers normally gnaw at
their bones, and do not bite them into pieces. If your dog chews off
pieces of the bone, throw it away and replace the Dental Chew with a
larger size.

Guidelines
Most dogs
love to chew and have even been known to chew things that aren't good
for them, like wood, rocks, towels and shoes. Nylabone® chew toys
make a much healthier choice. You, as the pet owner, best know your
dog's chewing power and needs. Regular use of Nylabone will increase
your dog's jaw strength and may require larger, more durable bones.
Make sure the
Nylabone® is the appropriate size for your dog. (Petite < 10
lbs.; Regular/Wolf < 25 lbs.; Giant < 50 lbs.; Super > 50
lbs.) Replace smaller chews as your puppy grows.
Frequently
inspect your Nylabone® before giving it to your dog to make sure
it's whole and intact, paying particular attention to loose pieces
that could be harmful if swallowed whole. Nylabone® dental chew bones,
are NOT intended as edible. During normal chewing, tiny bristle-like
projections are raised which help clean the teeth. If ingested, these
rice grain size pieces should pass through without effect.
No dog toy or
chew is indestructible. If you think your dog swallowed a fragment
larger than 1/4 inch, promptly inform your veterinarian, and take the
chew away from the dog.
Clean your
dog's Nylabone® occasionally by rinsing under warm water -
another chance to inspect for wear.
Replace the
Nylabone® if it becomes too small or damaged in any way or the
knuckles are worn down.
If you have
multiple dogs and they share the chews, give them the type and size
for the strongest and largest chewer. As your dog grows, be aware
that his chewing needs change.
Nylabones®
should not be used by young children or pets other than dogs,
boiled, or placed in a dishwasher, washing machine, convection or
microwave oven (except Healthy Edibles® where noted). |
